Leopard Man

Do you discourage people that are different?  The title of this article is, “The Sociology of Leopard Man.”  The author of this article is, Logan Feys.  The genre of this article is, nonfiction because it’s real.  “Society tends to discourage  people from expressing their unique ideas and behaving in ways that are different from their peers.”  I think people have a right to be themselves and express themselves so I agree with Feys.

The author makes a valid point when he said we should all get away from society every once in a while.  The author also says we should be on our own person in society. Logan Feys shows he is very respectful of leopard mans decision.  "I'm in no position to judge his particular choice".  Leopard man is a man who has decided to completely escape society and live as a leopard in the nature having most of his body tattooed and most of his teeth pulled out to look even more like a leopard.  He spends most of his time in the nature by himself; however, he does go to the city to get food and his basic necessities.
Leopard Man changed his appearance for himself. He doesn't want to bring attention he just is the way he is. People's comments don't bother him, he goes on with this life. In my eyes he lives like a normal person. The author says, "He ventures into civilization only when he needs food and supplies, he wears clothing to cover up his colorful body."  When he's is himself it is when he's free. Some people think it's a freak out of this world, some people actually like the way he is. I for example like how the leopard man is, he does what make them happy. Not all freaks are freaky, some actually are worth being around with.
"But from time to time to society out of your life and out of your mind-not permanently necessarily". This quote explains Logan Feys' point showing that he wants people to society out of your head, but not permanently. Also this quote says to get society out of your life when necessary. For example if you had a hard day at work then go for a walk in the park or take a nap."He may not be a hero, but he is free. Be psychologically free enough and strong enough to live independently leaving society and entering society In no ones terms but your own". This quote is another example which says you don't have to be physically strong, but mentally strong. You must be able to get away from society when possible and come back being a better you and follow your own terms, no one else's.

So once again you must remember that getting away from society is important. You must be able to relax and do stuff that you like, and express yourself. Lastly you should be free like Leopard Man because he can express himself and he doesn’t care about what he does or how he looks.

Five things you can do to improve your speed

1. Technique Running may seem like a fairly natural motion, but there are ways to optimize your mechanics to gain speed in both the acceleration and full-speed phases. In the acceleration phase, shift your weight forward by leaning ahead with your entire body, created by a roughly 45-degree angle from your head to your back foot. Push off the ground with the balls of your feet, using short strides. Pump your arms aggressively, with your elbows bent about 90 degrees, and keep your head up whenever your run, because you must scan the field to find the best running path during game conditions. When you reach full speed you’ll lengthen your stride and reduce the amount of time each foot is in contact with the ground. Lean forward a bit less and continue pumping your arms, but don’t do so as aggressively.
2.Relaxation One of the hardest things about running is trying to stay relaxed while you run. Most athletes first think that in order to run fast that they have to run hard. They associate running hard with trying to create as much tension as possible. You can tell easily if an athlete is too tense, just by looking at their facial expression.  If you see an athlete with a tight face, their eyes will be squinting, teeth are mashed, and you know that they are trying too hard and are forcing themselves to be slow down. If you see an athlete with their cheeks flopping up and down as they run, you know that they have mastered the relaxation technique and are getting the most out their sprinting. You have to let your muscles work for you and not against to maximize your speed potential. This is a tough concept to learn and must be practiced if you want get the most out of your speed. Other things to look for if you are running tight are clenched fists, elevated shoulders and a shortened stride.
3.Proper footing and Leg Action  When sprinting, you want to land on the ball of your foot, or across the metatarsal arch. The foot should land directly under the hip (where all your force is stored) and drive back until the leg is straight behind the body, thus maximizing stride length. As the foot leaves the ground again, this is called the recovery part of speed), your knee should be driving forward and slightly up. We call this a knee punch. The most important thing to remember about leg action is that speed is created down and back—by the amount of force applied to the ground, which drives the leg back and propels the body forward. Leg action happens very quickly. Olympic sprinters get their foot on and off the ground in about one-tenth of a second. The objective of linear speed is to go forward or straight ahead. Therefore, you need to maximize your horizontal components and minimize vertical components. Remember, the objective is to go straight ahead, not up and down.

4.Set up proper shin angle A player’s shin should be at a 45-degree angle when lifted up in a dorsi flexed manner. This is like loading a spring. As soon as the foot hits the pavement, it will spring up and cause the rate of force development to increase, which will help your athlete increase hip flexion.
5.Work on Acceleration and Quickness Acceleration is the ability to increase velocity. The key here is how quickly you can increase your speed. This is perhaps more important in basketball than raw speed, because unlike a sport like track where all the athletes take off at the same time, basketball players must be quick to recognize when they must start a sprint--such as a rebound leading to a fast break--and then be able to accelerate quickly. In basketball, having the ability to accelerate from a stationary position or from a moving position is equally important.Drills such as learning the proper 45-degree body position to begin acceleration, or using the proper arm action in the sprint can be helpful in this type of training. Each of these seemingly simple, but often overlooked aspects to becoming faster can help athletes improve their acceleration.

My Favorite Mistake

It was a Saturday and I was playing my Xbox. My mom drove to her friends house, and my brother and sister were at there friends house also. I went to get something to eat and there wasn't anything good so I went back to my room. On my way to my room I noticed my mom left her keys to her blazer. I took my moms keys and I forgot I didn't have any money. I went in my moms room and she had five dollars on her bed and I took the money and I left to go to Taco Bell.

When I got in the car I was kind of scared that I would get into trouble by the Police because I didn't have a drivers license. The steering wheel was cold, like it had never been used in a while. I have driven a little bit, but with my mom on a road that didn't have alot of cars on it. I went to Taco Bell, when I got to Taco Bell I didn't want to go through the drive thru because the people would have thought I was to young to drive so I went inside. I ordered 4 tacos and a large drink. The tacos smelled so good I wanted to eat them in the car, but I had to hurry home before my mom got there.

On my way home, my mom called me and asked what I was doing and I told her "I was playing Xbox", and she said "ok". She also told me she was driving home and almost there and I said "ok" then hung up the phone. I hurried home in the car and when I got home, I ran inside put the keys back where they were and ate my food and acted like I was playing Xbox until my mom came home. When my mom came home she said she was going to get groceries, but her car was out of gas and she was going to take the blazer because she had just put gas in it. When she got in the car, she started the car and noticed it didn't have gas in it and the engine was warm and knew I had driven it. She wanted to know why I would do such a thing.

Literature Analysis #1 Space Station Seventh Grade

Seventh-grader Jason Herkimer narrates the events of his year, from school, hair, and pimples, to mothers, little brothers, and a girl. It is a story about a about a kids life through seventh grade year. Jason has a crush on a cheerleader, Debbie. He also has trouble fitting in at school. He goes through a lot of natural teenage problems and shares the experiences.

It was the end of summer and Jason was going into seventh grade. Jason was scared on the first day of school. By the end of the week he got used to school and he loved school. In P.E they took showers and Jason faced the wall because he didnt want to see the other guys junk and feel awkward. Then a week later he turned around and he didnt feel awkward anymore.

It was about 6 weeks into school and Jason wanted to tryout for the football team. When he was getting his physical the guy grabbed his gonads and Jason felt awkward. After 2 weeks of practice they had their first game when Jason was on the sidelines he noticed one of the chearleaders named and he wanted to get her attention but he didnt know how. Then one of Jasons teamates got injured and she was worried for him, and thats how Jason was going to get her attention but he never got in the game.

It was holloween and Jason was going to a campfire with his class and Debbie Breen the chearleader that Jason likes is going. They took two wagons getting pulled by tractors to the campfire and they were throwing things on the way and having fun. When they got to the campfire there was food and drinks. Jason wanted to talk to Debbie but he didn't know what to say, then Jason made a hotdog for Debbie and they started to talk and she sat next to him. While at the campfire the adults pulled a prank on the kids by making snake sounds and using rubber snakes.

This novel was good, and I plan on to read it again because it makes you laugh and some how relate to Jason. Other people in my class would love this book and would want to probably want to read it again.

Antigone: Compare and Contrast

The tragic play Antigone by Sophocles is about how Antigone's brother was killed in battle and this guy named Creon doesn't think Polyneices should be buried.  Antigone wants to bury Polyneices but Creon forbids it but Antigone does it anyway.  How they are both alike is they both are independent.

Antigone is loyal to her family because she wants to bury Polyneices.  Antigone says,"But I will bury him; and if I must die".  What she means is, she is going toing to bury Polyneices, that's how loyal Antigone is.  Why Antigone is loyal to the gods because in scene 3 Antigone buried her brother because she believes on the laws of the gods.  How Creon is loyal to the state is he thinks Polyneices shouldn't be buried.

Some similarities of Antigone and Creon would be pride.  Pride is major character trait for both Antigone and Creon.  Antigone shows pride when she says, I do. I deny nothing.'' (Scene 2, Lines 54).  In scene 2, she tells Creon she isn't guilty of anything she's done.  She is prideful because she disobeys Creon's law, and buries Polyneices body because she loves him as a brother.  Creon shows pride when he says, "If we must lose, lets lose to a man at least! Is a women stronger than we? (scene 3, Lines 50-51).  In scene 4,he shows us how "women" were defying him so he sends Antigone to be locked in a vault to live or die.  He is prideful because he doesn't have any respect for women, even though if Antigone and Creon have "pride", it all ends up as a tragic flaw for Creon.

At the end, I think each character deserves to be blamed.  Antigone is arrogant in pride which defies the law and buries her brother who was a traitor.  Creon is arrogant in pride which caused his downfall of losing his neice, son, and wife.  After all, I think the tragic hero would be Creon because he failed to pay attention to Tiresias causing three tragic flaws all due to his "pride".
